Kanchanpur, Dec 17: Cold has intensified sharply in Kanchanpur district as fog and mist set from the morning continue till midday
The fog and mist that form morning do not clear until daytime which has adversely affected the daily lives here. Children, senior citizens and those residing in makeshift tents are hardest hit by the increasing cold.
Furthermore, there are difficulties in operating vehicles due to the inclement weather during the morning. Bus driver Rajendra Bahadur Airee shared that driving has become increasingly riskier due to low visibility during morning.
School-going children are also affected by the biting cold. Parents complain that dense fog and biting cold made it more difficult for their children to venture out of their houses for school early morning.
Persistent fog and mist have affected farmers as well. Ram Pyara Chaudhary, a farmer from Laljhadi, worried that blight has begun appearing in the vegetable crops (namely potato and tomato farming) they have planted.
Similarly, healthcare centers here have begun witnessing growing numbers of patients complaining cold, fever and respiratory complications, reported Prem Dhami, a health professional.
"Children and senior citizens in particular seem to be more affected by the cold," he added.(RSS)
