Europe Nepal Health Award 2025 to Nepal Medical Association

By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Dec 15: The Society of Nepalese Healthcare Professionals in Europe (SNHPE) has provided the Europe Nepal Health Award 2025 to Nepal Medical Association at a function in Kathmandu on Monday.

 honouring individuals and institutions for their outstanding contribution to Nepal’s health sector.

The society has honoured to the NMA stating that for recognition and appreciation of their dedicated efforts, struggle and remarkable achievements in securing the rights and allowances of resident doctors in Nepal during the year 2025. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 101,001, along with a letter of appreciation was received by Dr. Anil Bikram Karki, president of the NMA.

Dr Binaya Shrestha, chairperson of SNHPE said the initiative was launched with the spirit of contributing something meaningful to the country while living overseas. He emphasised the importance of advocating for the rights of resident doctors and promoting knowledge-sharing and collaboration.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Anil Bikram Karki, President of the Nepal Medical Association, said that although many Nepalese medical professionals living abroad are willing to return and contribute to the country, legal and regulatory hurdles often discourage them. He stressed the need to ease such barriers and reaffirmed that the NMA is always ready to cooperate to facilitate their contribution.

Chairman of Manmohan Cardiovascular Centre Dr Anil Bhattarai remarked that doctors face increasing challenges in serving society, adding that emotional attachment to Nepal often grows stronger while living abroad.

Senior dentist and representative of the Association of Private Medical and Dental Institutions of NepalDr Buddiman Shrestha, said that the private medical sector is ready to move forward through collaboration for the overall development of healthcare services.

Kausal Kishor Tiwari, based in Italy, was also acknowledged for his role in supporting and coordinating the initiative.

The organisation was registered in Bern, Switzerland, in 2024, aims to contribute some even while residing abroad.
