Kankrebihar (Surkhet), Dec 13: Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', has said they are moving forward to form a unified party, learning from past mistakes.

Addressing the unity assembly held today in Birendranagar, he stated that it is necessary to make the NCP the number one party with enthusiastic participation of leaders and activists, and that he is encouraged by the love shown by the people of Karnali today.

Coordinator Dahal mentioned that he has resolved to move forward by correcting past weaknesses through the coalition of more than 14 parties, and expressed the belief that the participation seen in unity meetings held in various parts of the country will elevate the campaign to new heights.

He recalled that discussions for unity between the party Joint Coordinator Madhav Nepal and himself had started from 1984/85 and expressed the view that discussions continued in that line even during the armed conflict.

"The 12-point accord could be made in the country only after the UML and Maoists reached an agreement. Efforts towards unity had been going on for 40 years," he said.

Describing Karnali as the cradle of Nepali civilisation and a treasure of medicinal herbs and water resources, he expressed commitment to work giving priority to the development of the area. Dahal mentioned that they are active in creating an environment for young people who have gone abroad to return home.

Joint Coordinator Nepal said that significant work has been done in politics by bringing different parties together in one place and this has added enthusiasm to everyone. He said that NCP will be established as a party that works in the interest of the people and the country.

Nepal said, "We have always stood in the right place at every important moment of the country. To make the people the owners of the country, democracy and republicanism are needed. Therefore, we are working to establish the Nepali party as a patriotic party that upholds the country's independence and sovereignty." (RSS)
