By Janarjan Khatri, Sarlahi, Dec 13: Police have destroyed a 3.5-bigha marijuana plantation in the Pipaldamar area of Ishworpur Rural Municipality -12 in the Churebarti area of Sarlahi.
The District Police Office issued a press release stating that 18,500 marijuana plants planted in three and a half bighas were cut down and destroyed.
A joint team of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force destroyed marijuana in Pipaldamar, near the border with Sindhuli.
Locals in the Chure region, where other crops are not grown much, have been cultivating marijuana, which yields a considerable income.
Although it is a good source of income for locals, Nepalese law considers marijuana cultivation illegal.
