‘Jerry on Top’ grosses over Rs. 114.3 million

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Nov. 7: 'Jerry on Top', released on October 17, has become the highest-grossing film of this year so far.

As of Wednesday, the film has collected more than Rs. 114.3 million at the domestic box office.

Previously, the film Unko Sweater, released in the first week of May, had topped the Nepali box office with a total collection of Rs. 114.1 million. 

However, Jerry on Top surpassed that figure on its 20th day of screening, securing the number one position as the highest-grossing Nepali film of the year so far.

The film is still being screened in over a hundred theaters across the country.

The movie, starring superstar Anmol KC, saw a strong initial business due to his stardom. Positive word of mouth from audiences further turned it into a blockbuster. 

Directed by Suyog Gurung, Jerry on Top blends social, family, and romantic themes. It portrays a love story with the Everest expedition as its setting. 

Highlighting the daring story of mountain climbing, the film has been praised on social media for promoting Nepal’s tourism on an international level. 

Artistes including Anmol KC, Aanchal Sharma, Jassita Gurung, Bhuwan KC, Kedar Ghimire, and Usha Khadgi played the lead roles in the film.

Produced under the banner of Ananya Films and presented by Saroj Neupane, the film has also gained international acclaim. 

It has been screened simultaneously in more than a dozen countries, including Australia, the USA, Japan, and several European countries. 

According to producer Neupane, Jerry on Top has so far collected around Rs. 170 million globally.
