Kathmandu, Nov. 4: Nepal witnessed the highest number of tourist arrivals in October 2025, marking it as the peak month of the year so far for international visitors.
According to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), a total of 128,443 tourists entered Nepal in October, reflecting steady growth in the country’s tourism sector.
Earlier this year, 121,687 tourists visited Nepal in March, while 116,490 tourists arrived in April. Similarly, 79,991 tourists entered the country in January, 96,880 in February, 86,216 in May, 76,425 in June, 70,913 in July, 88,680 in August, and 78,711 in September.
However, the tourist arrivals in September 2025 decreased by 18.3 per cent compared to the same month last year, showing a temporary dip before rebounding strongly in October.
Tourism officials have attributed the rise in October’s arrivals to the festive season, favourable weather, and increasing international confidence in Nepal as a safe and attractive destination.
According to the NTB, the number of tourist arrivals increased by 3.3 per cent in the month of October, 2025 as compared to same month of 2024.
Notably, tourist arrival figure in the month of August this year represents a 96 per cent recovery compared to pre-pandemic levels in the month of October 2019, according to the Nepal Tourism Board.
A total of 134,069 tourists had visited Nepal in the month of October 2019.
According to the NTB, a total of 943,716 tourists arrived in Nepal during the first 10 months since January of the year 2025.
The tourist arrivals during the first 10 months of 2025 is 0.3 per cent higher than the tourist arrivals during the same period of 2024.
A total of 941,024 tourists had visited Nepal from January to October in 2025.
However, a total of 965,996 tourists visited Nepal during the first 10 months (January to October) in 2019.
India continues to dominate as the largest tourist-generating country for Nepal, contributing 13.5 per cent of total arrivals with 17,298 visitors in October 2025.
USA followed with 13,286 arrivals (10.3 per cent), while the United Kingdom accounted for 8,718 visitors (6.8 per cent), according to the NTB.
Similarly, 6,755 tourists from China, 6,366 from Germany, 6,177 from Australia, 5,635 from Sri-Lanka, 5,045 from France, 4,641 from Bangladesh and 3,038 tourists from Myanmar have come to Nepal in the month of October.
Of the total tourist arrival, share of tourists from Europe stood at 31.6 per cent (40,600 people), South Asia (SAARC) at 22.6 per cent ( 29,060 people), Asia (others) at 18 per cent (23,127 people), Americas at 12.8 per cent (16,407 people), Oceania at 5.3 per cent (6,814 people), Middle East at 2.8 per cent (3,548 people), Africa at 0.3 per cent (443 people) and others at 6.6 per cent (8,444 people) in the review month.
