Israeli envoy Bass for cooperation on agricultural development in Karnali

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, May 21: Israeli ambassador to Nepal Shmulik Arie Bass has expressed interest in expanding cooperation in the fields of agriculture, technology and skill development in Karnali province.

Ambassador Bass showed his interest while discussing about Karnali’s development with an agriculture student and youth leader from Karnali, Ashish Devkota.

Ambassador Bass expressed interest in Karnali’s agricultural, tourism and natural potential and committed to expanding future cooperation in the fields of agriculture, technology and skill development, Devkota said after his meeting with envoy Bass on Thursday.

The meeting focused on the modernization of agriculture in Karnali Province, international promotion of indigenous crops and the conservation and promotion of medicinal herbs, he said.

During the discussion, special emphasis was placed on promoting Karnali’s indigenous crops such as Kaguno (foxtail millet), Chino, Marsi rice and Kodo (finger millet) to international markets. The discussion also centered around the conservation, processing and value addition of valuable medicinal herbs including Yarsagumba, Shilajit, Panchaule, Satuwa and Gucchi mushrooms, said Devkota.
