Korean Ambassador calls on Communication Minister Kharel

Kathmandu, Nov 3: Ambassador of South Korea to Nepal, Park-Tae Young has paid a courtesy call on Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Jagadish Kharel. 

At the meeting held at the ministry in Singhadurbar today, matters related to bilateral historical relations between Nepal and South Korea, mutual collaboration and present status, and priorities of the Nepal government were discussed, the Minister's secretariat stated. 

During the meeting, Communication Minister Kharel expressed gratitude for the relationship between Nepal and South Korea, development projects being implemented in Nepal with South Korean assistance, and the aid being extended in establishing a data centre in Nepal. 

On the occasion, Minister Kharel informed that the government's main priorities include conducting elections in a free and fair manner, checking corruption, and promoting good governance. 

Minister Kharel also took the opportunity to appreciate the long-standing provision of employment to Nepali youth by South Korea through the Employment Permit System (EPS). 

On this occasion, Ambassador Young congratulated Minister Kharel and wished him a successful tenure. 

He also shared the information on the status of projects being carried out with South Korean assistance in Nepal, and the priorities of the Korean government's support in Nepal. 

Ambassador Young expressed the Korean government's readiness to extend assistance to Nepal in the sectors such as education, agriculture, and information technology to achieve economic transformation and prosperity. 

Ambassador Young mentioned Nepali youth workers as diligent and honest, and lauded Nepal for becoming an outstanding country in terms of sending workers to Korea. 

Officials from the Ministry of Communication and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal were also present at the meeting. (RSS)
