Missing Saroj Sharma for a week found murdered, two arrested

By Bishnu Prasad Pokharel, Damak, Nov.1: It is reported that 32-year-old Saroj Sharma of Santhal Basti, Shivasatakshi Municipality-10 of Jhapa district, who went missing along with his vehicle a week ago, was kidnapped and murdered in a theatrical-style manner.

Police have arrested two suspects after the body of Sharma, who had been missing since last Sunday, was found buried under the Biring  Bridge near the Postal Highway in Jhapa Rural Municipality-5 on the morning of October 26.

It is said that locals informed the police after a foul smell started spreading around the bridge in the morning.

Locals said that after identifying the place where the foul smell was spreading and digging a hole, they found a decomposed body wrapped in black plastic.

According to Deepak Pokharel, ward member of Shivasatakshi Municipality-10, the identity was revealed with the help of citizenship found on body. Family has identified him.

The car with registration number (Ba 13 Cha 3864), which Sharma was driving, was found set on fire in a community forest near the Charali-Bhadrapur road in Mechinagar-13, Jhapa, on Tuesday.

The killer appears to have kidnapped Sharma in a movie-style manner, burned the vehicle on one side, and buried the body on the other, according to police.

According to the Spokesperson for the District Police Office, Jhapa, Khagendra Kumar Khadka, the body was recovered in a state of decomposition and was unrecognizable. The necessary investigation has been initiated after family members recognized the body. He informed that work is underway to collect detailed information about the murder.

 He also informed that two people close to Sharma have been arrested in connection with the murder.

"Two people have been arrested in connection with Sharma's murder," he said. Their identities have not been revealed.

Locals have demanded a swift action.
