Patan (Lalitpur), Oct 31: The Central Committee meeting of the Nepali Congress, which resumed on October 30 after a 12-day break, has been postponed until Sunday.
The meeting had initially begun on October 14.
On the opening day of the meeting, Party President Sher Bahadur Deuba announced the handover of the responsibility of Acting President of the party to Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka. Following this announcement, the meeting was postponed for a day. The subsequent sessions on October 16 and 17 were presided over by the Acting President.
A total of 165 members, including invited members, have attended the meeting.
The discussions have focused on several key issues, including the September 8–9 Gen Z movement, preparations for the party’s 15th General Convention, the dissolution of the House of Representatives on the late night of September 12, the upcoming HoR elections scheduled for March 5, 2026, and matters concerning peace, security, and good governance in the country.
The meeting has also addressed recent natural disasters, compensation and reconstruction efforts, the decisions of the Works Execution Committee, and disciplinary provisions within the party, it has been said.(RSS)
