Banke, Oct. 30: Traffic management in Nepalgunj has been disrupted after the traffic lights installed in Nepalgunj were damaged during the Gen Z protest.

The Road Division Office had installed traffic lights at Pushpalal Chowk, Dhambojhi, BP Chowk and Ganeshman Chowk in the city. Of these, BP Chowk and Ganeshman Chowk were partially operational, but regular traffic lights were operational at Pushpalal Chowk and Dhambojhi Chowk, but the traffic lights have been shut down for a long time after September 9.

On the second day of the protest (September 9), the traffic lights were vandalized and damaged by pelting stones.

Although lights were operational partially at Dhambojhi Chowk after some time of the protest, they have not been operated regularly as they do not show the time. Due to this, problems have been seen in traffic management in Nepalgunj.

Traffic Police Post Nepalgunj in-charge Nanda Pokharel informed that only Dhambojhi is partially operational after the traffic lights were damaged.

District Police Office Banke Chief Superintendent of Police Angur GC said that he was transferred as the Banke police chief after the Gen Z movement and said that the traffic lights and CCTV were damaged.

District Police Chief GC said, “Coordination is being made with the Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City to install CCTV on the main road.”
