Relevancy of party split has been justified: Unified Socialist Chair Nepal

blog

Kathmandu, Oct 29: The third Central Committee meeting of the CPN (Unified Socialist) has kicked off today.

Inaugurating the meeting, party Chair Madhav Kumar Nepal said the political failure to address citizens’ concerns from Mechi to Mahakali (east to far west) triggered the Gen-Z protest and the subsequent new political situation.

He also claimed that the relevance of their decision to split from the CPN (UML) four years ago has now been vindicated.

Party leader Jhala Nath Khanal advised the leadership to carefully consider the proposal for party unification with another party, noting that the relevance of the split has yet to be fully confirmed.

Party General Secretary Ghanashyam Bhusal stated that a report from talks with various parties regarding the unification proposal, prepared by the party's unification taskforce, will be presented during the meeting.

He added that the meeting will review the September 8–9 Gen-Z movement, the situation following the formation of the new government, and matters related to party unification.

Addressing the meeting, the party Chair emphasized that elections are the only way to resolve the current issues and confusions in the country. He urged the government to ensure that all political parties are taken into confidence when organizing elections.

Accusing communist parties of malpractice, he demanded an investigation into the properties of party leaders.

Echoing the spirit of the Gen-Z movement, he said the party will ensure 20 percent youth representation in party committees. He also urged all political parties to prioritize good governance, job creation, and uninterrupted services for citizens.

The meeting will conclude on October 31.(RSS)
