Genuine school brings out five books

Bhaktapur, Oct. 29: Genunine Secondary School, Bhaktapur has come up with five books containing articles written by the teachers and students of the school.

The books were published on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the school.

Educationist Hemanta Shumsher Rana unveiled the books amid an event organised by the school in Bhaktapur on Monday evening. The books 'The Beacon of Thoughts,' 'Sikaika Sarathi: Abhibhabak,' 'Hamra Anubhuti Ra Sahakaryako Sangalo,' 'Some Hidden Treasures' and 'Seeds of Wonder: 30 Years of Curiosity and Activity' contain selected essays by the teachers and students of the school earlier feautred in the school's bulletin 'GESS.'

Among them, 'Some Hidden Treasures' is an essay collection in English authored by Yogendraman Bijukchhen. The book comprises 17 motivational essays on various personalities and themes. Likewise, 'Sikaika Sarathi: Abhibhabak' is another essay book in Nepali penned by Bishwa Bahadur Duwal. The book consists of 16 essays on various topics targeted at children.

In the event, educationist Rana shared his teaching experiences and methods. Yogendraman Bijukchhen, ex-principal of the school, highlighted the importance of the campain 'Teaching Beyond the Text."

Lyricist Harihar Timilsina lauded the extracurricular activities carried out in the school. "Teachings beyond the text broaden the knowledge of both students and teachers."

Author Avaya Shrestha shared some writing tips while journalists Devaraj Humagain, Suresh Pariyar, along with teachers Saugat Gelal, Prakash Koirala and Sita Khanal presented their reflections on the books. 

Former principal Bijukchhen, now chairman of the Bhaktapur Municipality Ward No. 5, had started the programme 'Teachers Should Read First' in the school.

'We teachers used to discuss books or important articles every Friday. We showed important cinemas to the students as well,' Bijukchhen shared, urging the school board to continue the legacy.
