Humla and Manang people seek Minister Kharel's support in accessing modern communications

Kathmandu, Oct 26: The people from remote areas of Humla and Manang districts have sought the government's support for their easy access to communications facility.     

The locals and their representatives from Namkha rural municipality of Humla and Narpabhumi rural municipality of Manang district met Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagdish Kharel, and sought such support on Sunday.     

They submitted the memorandums, demanding quality and accessible telecommunication service at Limi area of Namkha-6 and Nar village of Narpabhumi-1 and Phu village of Narpabhumi-5. Expansion of Nepal Telecom's 4G service was demanded on the occasion.     

Receiving the memorandum, Minister Kharel assured the expansion of telephone and internet services in remote Limi and Lapcha areas of Humla. He informed that the Ministry had prioritized the expansion of internet service and convenience of digital payment to the rural people of Sudurpaschim, Karnali and Madhes provinces.     

On the occasion, Rajan Rawat from Simkot informed that they demanded the Minister that he took initiation in expanding telecommunications at Limi, which is a centre of tourism in Humla district. Limi and Lapcha are the spots from where the Kailash Mansarovar can be viewed. Once the modern telecommunications is ensured there, both the locals and tourists will be benefitted much.     

Similarly, Chairperson of Narpabhumi rural municipality, Konjo Tanjing Lama, said they requested the Minister for expanding 4G service at Nar village of ward no 1 and Phu village of ward no 5.(RSS)
