UML Chair Oli inspects his residence in Balkot

blog

Bhaktapur, Oct 22: The chair of CPN (UML), KP Sharma Oli, visited his residence in Balkot today. He assessed the damage to the house, which was devastated by fire during the Gen-Z movements that occurred on September 8 and 9.

During his inspection, Chairman Oli examined various structures within the compound, including the library and the quarters for security personnel. Following the inspection, Chairman Oli remarked, 'This was not my property; this is government property. We merely utilized it for living and dining while we were alive.'

'Now that situation no longer exists,' Chairman Oli added, 'this property was established by my wife through the job struggles at Nepal Rastra Bank for 33 years. We had already donated all of this in the name of the state. The destruction of historical documents, rare books, and significant items here has inflicted damage on the state itself.'

He characterized the acts of vandalism, looting, and arson carried out under the guise of the Gen-Z movement as a grave conspiracy, stating, 'I do not have much to say here. The images themselves tell the story.'

It is alarming that residences of selected individuals have been set ablaze. In the name of the movement, missiles for cases, historical documents from Singha Durbar, industries and businesses, schools, and private properties were intentionally torched, which he labeled as a 'terrible conspiracy against Nepal.' He stressed the necessity for stringent action against those responsible while advocating for an unbiased investigation into the entire affair.

His wife, Radhika Shakya, who accompanied Chairman Oli, indicated that they would refrain from taking any action regarding the burned house and would leave it as it stands.

The monitoring team included UML Politburo member Mahesh Basnet, leaders Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal, Bishal Bhattarai, UML district vice-chair Kiran Thapa, along with other UML leaders and supporters. (RSS)
