According to him, Deusi-Bhailo programmes will be held in Besisahar, Bhote Odar, and other locations until Kartik 4.
The event featured remarkable performances by senior singer Maya Gurung, popular folk duet singer Manju BK, Prashant Tamang, Pooja Pariyar Sherpa, Laxmi Tamang, and around two dozen other artists.
In Saturday’s programme, the Tamu Hyula Chhoj Dhi Besisahar unit, along with five local wards, Shanti Tole, Manange Chautara, Sahaji, Pragati Tole, and Sera Tole, provided support for the Deusi-Bhailo event.
On Sunday, programmes will be held in areas under the Tamang Ghedung, and on Monday and Tuesday, the performances will continue in Bhote Odar and other locations.
According to Chairperson Adhikari, the event has also served as a platform for interactions and the exchange of greetings among local artists, writers, journalists, social workers, and representatives from various sectors.
He expressed hope that the programme will help raise funds, protect cultural diversity, promote folk traditions, and ensure the welfare of artists.
The programme includes traditional cultural performances such as Deusi-Bhailo and will continue until Tuesday.
The Academy has urged everyone to support and cooperate to make the event successful.
The organisers believe that once the Artist Welfare Fund and office are established, it will help provide support, opportunities, and protection to individuals active in the folk and cultural sectors of Lamjung.
Meanwhile, Beni too is filled with the vibrant atmosphere of Deusi Bhailo as various organisations have begun performing Deusi Bhailo in the market area.
Community schools, social organisations, youth clubs, and mothers’ groups in different rural settlements of the district have organised Deusi Bhailo programmes.
Traditionally played for entertainment in the community, Deusi Bhailo has now become an effective way to raise funds for social causes.
The youth group ABC Dance Studio organised a Deusi Bhailo programme in Beni. Young women dressed in traditional attire danced gracefully to Salaijo and Kaura songs.
Nisa Buduja said that the event was organised to help preserve the originality of the Tihar festival. She said, “We must protect our culture. It is the responsibility of the younger generation to safeguard our traditional festivals and customs. Deusi Bhailo also contributes to passing down culture to future generations.”
According to Buduja, more than 50 young men and women participated in the event. The programme was a blend of both traditional and modern culture, making it lively and engaging.
She also mentioned that, as per tradition, the funds collected during Deusi Bhailo will be used for social welfare activities, while also promoting and preserving the district’s cultural heritage and providing entertainment.
