New born abandoned in rice field in Mahottari

 By Rabindra Upreti, Bardibas, Oct.17: A newborn baby has been found in a rice field in Jaleshwar Municipality-4, Mahottari.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the District Police Office, Mahottari, Shailendra Bhatta, said that a male infant, aged about 15/16 days, has been found in a paddy field near Bhargeshwor Pokhari (pond) on Thursday.

The baby was found wearing light blue clothes and wrapped in a pink cloth.

 Locals immediately informed the police after seeing the baby in the field while they were cutting grass.

A police team rescued the baby and sent him to the Provincial Hospital in Jaleshwor for a medical check-up. A

According to the hospital, the baby is completely healthy and safe.

DSP Bhatta said that an investigation has been launched into who abandoned the baby and why.
