Kathmandu, Oct 16: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has held a meeting with the major stakeholders to troubleshoot the issues relating to the financial cooperative victims.
PM Karki held a meeting at the Prime Minister's Office on Thursday with Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Anil Sinha, Ministry's Secretary Kedar Nath Sharma, Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office Raj Kumar Shrestha, the Chair of the Problematic Cooperatives Management Committee and office-bearers of the Cooperatives Regulations Authority and representatives of the cooperative organizations' victim depositors.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister said that those involved in the cooperative scam should not be spared at any cost. "The frauds cannot be freed. Rather we make amendments to the laws if that is deemed necessary. Let's do whatever is required but let's not spare the frauds. Let's end the trend of traumatizing the victims," the PM added.
"It should be done now. We should do it ourselves. The major task of this government is to hold elections and is also too punish those involved in corruption and resolve the issues of cooperative organizations. We came to the government for the same (responsibilities)," according to PM Karki.
The Prime Minister was of the view that the victims' deposits should be returned even by auctioning the properties of the frauds.(RSS)
