Newly-appointed Chief Minister Sonal takes oath of office

Mahendranagar (Dhanusha), Oct 16: The newly-appointed Chief Minister of Madhesh Province Government, Jitendra Prasad Sonal, has taken the oath of office and secrecy today. 

In a ceremony held at the Provincial Chief's Office in Janakpurdham, Provincial Chief Sumitra Subedi Bhandari administered the oath of office and secrecy to Sonal, a member of the Provincial Assembly from the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP) Nepal. Sonal took the oath of office in the Bhojpuri language. 

Two newly-appointed ministers sworn in 

Similarly, two newly-appointed ministers of Madhesh Province government have taken the oath of office and secrecy at the same ceremony.

Leader of the parliamentary party of Janamat Party, Mahesh Prasad Yadav and Chief Whip of Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Socialist) Kanish Patel have taken the oath of office and secrecy as ministers without portfolio. 

Province Chief Bhandari had appointed Sonal as the Chief Minister on Wednesday evening with the support of 56 provincial assembly members from five parties, in accordance with Article 168, Subsection (2) of the Constitution of Nepal.

The new government includes the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal (JSPN), Janamat Party, the CPN (Maoist Centre) and the CPN (Unified Socialist). (RSS)
