EC holds meeting with political parties for upcoming HoR elections

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Oct.16: The Election Commission of Nepal has begun discussions with political parties on election preparations.

A meeting of the parties is currently being held at the commission under the chairmanship of the commission's acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari.

Chief Commissioner Bhandari said that those who wish to participate in the elections needs to register their parties before the end of November. To contest in the elections being held on March 5, the party registration certificate must be obtained before November 16.

"We must register new parties with the Election Commission and obtain a certificate before mid-November. To compete in the March 5 elections, the party registration certificate must be obtained before November 16."

There are 122 parties registered with the commission. In addition, new parties are being registered. Parties that have registered before mid-November, have obtained certificates, and wish to participate in the election through their manifesto and program will be allowed to participate in the election competition.
