The Hotel Association Pokhara, Nepal, has announced that the 18th Bhai Tika Festival 2082 will be held on October 23.
According to the association’s president, Laxman Subedi, the festival is being organised with the aim of promoting tourism through culture and making the tourism sector more vibrant.
He expressed hope that the festival would help revive the tourism industry, which was affected after the ‘Gen Z movement.’
During the Bhai Tika Festival, foreign tourists receive tika from Nepali sisters following traditional customs. Last year, 56 tourists from 12 different countries participated in the festival and received tika from Nepali sisters.
According to the festival coordinator and association’s vice president, Ganesh Raj Pahari, some tourists even come back to receive tika again.
“The main objective is to preserve the cultural aspects of Tihar while attracting tourists through them,” he said. The festival is being supported by the Nepal Tourism Board and Pokhara Metropolitan City.
