blog

Bagamati, Oct 13: The Bagamati province government has prepared for convening a meeting of the Province Assembly from the meeting hall based in the Office of the Chief Minister at Hetauda sub metropolis-2.

The province government was obliged to find a venue for the Province Assembly temporarily as the PA hall and the PA Secretariat Building were damaged by the vandals and arsonists during the September 9 Gen-Z protest.

Though the meeting hall of the Chief Minister also suffered damage during the demonstration, works to repair, clean, daub and furnish the facility are underway. Required furniture and technical equipment will be managed temporarily.

PA Secretariat secretary Ram Kumar Paudel said preparations are in progress to summon the meeting before the Tihar festival. He added that PA Deputy Speaker Apsara Chapagain was consulting political leaders in regard with the PA session and the date would be determined after the consultations.

The ruling parties Nepali Congress and the CPN (UML) and the major opposition CPN (Maoist Centre)  are expected to stake their claim for the post of PA Speaker after the then Speaker Bhuwan Kumar Pathak announced his resignation from the post in the course of Gen-Z protests.

Later on September 17, he formally submitted his resignation to the Deputy Speaker. However, it is yet to be accepted. According to Paudel, the new session will accept the resignation and proceed with the election of a new Speaker. (RSS)
