Jaleshwor (Mahottari), Oct 12: The flood that entered the nine local levels in Mahottari district damaging the embankment of the Rato River on October 5 and 6 damaged the paddy planted on around 2,000 hectares of land here.
Chief of Agriculture Knowledge Centre, Devananda Yadav, said as per the details of damage to crops received from the nine local levels out of 15 in the district, paddy planted on around 2,000 hectares of land was inundated and damaged.
The flood damaged the paddy planted on largest area (600 hectares) in Mahottari rural municipality, 500 hectares in Balawa municipality, 300 hectares in Matihani municipality, 300 hectares in Ekdara rural municipality, 100 hectares in Loharpatti municipality, 86 hectares in Bhangaha municipality, 23 hectares in Aurahi municipality, 20 hectares in Gaushala municipality and 10 hectares in Sonama rural municipality.
The Agriculture Knowledge Centre added that sugarcane planted on 1,290 hectares of land, vegetables planted on 636 hectares and lentils cultivated on 153 hectares in these local levels were also damaged by the flood.
The Centre had asked each local level about the details of losses caused in agriculture sector, only nine local levels have submitted the details so far. (RSS)
