Two-way vehicular movement resumes in Tamor Corridor

blog

By Kaviraj Ghimire, Hile, Oct 9: The Tamor Corridor has come into operation after five days of obstruction following the sweeping away of diversions by flooded streams.

Works to remove obstruction along the corridor started on Monday when rains stopped and completed on Wednesday evening and from today, Thursday, two-way traffic has resumed.

Rajan Karki, DSP at the Dhankuta District Police Office, said that the corridor has come into operation and vehicles are moving two-way.

With the resumption of corridor, transport has been easy for people in Dhankuta, Terhathum, Pachthar and Taplejung districts including those residing in northern border areas.

These places were cut off from the rest of the country, especially the Terai, when both the Mechi Highway and Tamor Corridor got blocked due to rain-induced landslides and floods.

Tamor corridor is the shortest road that connects Dhankuta, Pachthar, Taplejung and Terhathum with Terai, the southern plains.
