Kathmandu, Oct 7: The Gen Z Movement Alliance has demanded a voluntary
retirement of commissioners of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of
Authority (CIAA) including chief commissioner Prem Kumar Rai.
Some Gen Z
members on behalf of the Movement reached the CIAA office to submit the memorandum
of the demand while they also presented a written application to Prime Minister
Sushila Karki and other ministers, according to the members.
Undersigned
by Samana Lawati, Rijan Rana Magar, Anusha Khanal, Aakriti Ghimire, Ojaswi
Bhattarai, Vishesh Sah, Hem Chaudhari and Amit Khanal, Avas Sapkota, the
memorandum states that the demand is related to ending corruption and impunity
in the country.
They have pointed out the need of fair, independent and capable office bearers in the CIAA.
Stating that dismissing CIAA commissioners needs an impeachment in line with the constitution and as there is no HoR at present, they have argued, therefore it is important that the commissioners tendered resignation on their own on moral grounds.
Other demands included in the memorandum are investigation into the CIAA commissioners themselves, appointing CIAA commissioners in a transparent manner, forming a Gen Z team to facilitate CIAA works, investigating all other corruption related cases, and formulating laws to cover policy corruption.
