Public holidays on Sunday and Monday

Kathmandu, Oct 4: The government has announced public holidays nationwide on Sunday and Monday (October 5 and 6), except for disaster management and most essential services, in view of the increased risks of monsoon-related disasters.     

In a notice issued today, the Ministry of Home Affairs stated that the decision was made due to the heightened risk of natural disasters amid ongoing rains, which could potentially disrupt road and air services, affecting people's mobility. The notice also highlighted the risk of loss of life from such disasters.     

The Ministry stated that it has been updated by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority about forecasts of heavy to very heavy rainfall in various parts of the country from today until October 6. The Ministry has urged the public to take special precautions against the increased risk of potential adversity.(RSS)
