Kathmandu, Sept 28: The High Level Judicial Commission formed to study and investigate the incidents happened during the Gen-Z protests on September 8-9 has decided to ban five individuals including former Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak for their foreign travels citing that those individuals were under investigation.
Issuing a press statement today, the Commission said a decision was made to ban Oli, Lekhak, former Home Secretary Gokarnamani Duwadi, former Chief of National Investigation Department Hutraj Thapa and former Chief District Officer of Kathmandu Chhabilal Rijal from leaving the country.
Furthermore, the Commission stated that the five individuals have been banned from leaving the Kathmandu Valley without prior approval of the Commission since they are required to appear at the Commission at any time for the investigation purposes.
Similarly, the Commission has decided to write to the Ministry of Home for making arrangements of expert human resources to carry out its work execution in an effective manner.
The government has formed the Commission under the coordination of former judge Gauri Bahadur Karki. The members of the Commission are former Deputy Inspector General of Nepal Police, Bigyan Raj Sharma, and legal expert Bishweshwor Prasad Bhandari. The Commission is given a term of three months.(RSS)
