Kathmandu, Sept 28: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) will remain open from 11 am to 2 pm even during the Dashain holiday.

NHRC spokesperson Dr Tikaram Pokharel stated in a press release issued today that the Commission's central office, Harihar Bhawan, Lalitpur and the provincial and province branch offices will remain open during the Dashain holiday.

"Arrangement has been made to keep the central office of the National Human Rights Commission, Harihar Bhawan, Lalitpur, and the provincial and branch offices open during the Dashain, Deepawali and Chhath festival holidays to receive complaints of human rights violations and to monitor emergency incidents," reads the press release.

The Commission has requested everyone to immediately inform the nearest NHRC office if any incidents of human rights violations occur.

The NHRC has also issued directives to the government to ensure smooth service delivery and to make the law and order situation robust during the festivities. Similarly, the Commission has urged all concerned parties to support the government's work in streamlining service delivery and strengthening peace and security.

It has urged one and all not to create any difficulties in the movement of the general public,  not to carry out any activities fomenting incidents of crime, increase in market inflation, black marketing, and to refrain from activities that create disruptions in the delivery of public services and the supply chain.
