PM Karki calls on all sides to make election successful

Kathmandu, Sept 25: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has called on all political parties, civil society, media and stakeholders to extend support in making the upcoming election successful.     

In her address to the nation on Thursday evening, PM Karki reminded government's focus on holding the March 5 election in a free and fair atmosphere. She requested all Nepali sisters and brothers to participate in the election to the House of Representatives and elect qualified representatives, who would work in line with youths' ambition of change. A peaceful atmosphere is essential for holding the election.     

The PM also requested all Nepali sisters and brothers living in different parts of the country to stay patient and help create peaceful atmosphere.     

According to her, discussion was going on with the Election Commission whether it was viable to conduct voting from abroad, considering huge number of Nepalis engaged in foreign jobs. The government is positive towards the protection of the rights of Nepali workers to hold decent jobs abroad and the issues raised by the Non-Resident Nepalis.     

The PM also shared that law relating to voting was amended to ensure voting rights to the Gen-Z youths who are 18-year-old. Financial assistance was managed to the families of those who lost lives during the Gen-Z protest. Those losing lives were declared martyrs.     

The injured ones were provided treatment and medicine for free of cost. She pledged to bring to book those involved in the killing of the youths and Gen-Z students.     

PM Karki paid tribute to those died during the protest and wished speedy recovery to the injured persons. She expressed deep grief over the unimaginable and irreparable loss of lives and property.(RSS)
