By Santosh Dahit, Dang, Sept.25: The Lumbini provincial government had decided to retract all the services provided to former distinguished officials a year ago.
The decision was taken by a cabinet meeting held shortly after Chet Narayan Acharya assumed the charge of Chief Minister and decided to revoke the service facilities being provided to former distinguished officials.
Based on the same decision, former Speaker Purna Bahadur Gharti and former Chief Minister Kul Prasad KC returned the vehicles they were using under the service facilities.
The Cabinet meeting on September 16, 2022 had decided to provide services and facilities to former distinguished office bearers. Based on that decision, the former Chief Minister and former Speaker had been receiving services and facilities.
In order to adopt austerity during the economic crisis, the provincial government had decided to withdraw the services and facilities provided to former distinguished officials.
The former special officers were getting facilities like vehicles, fuel, maintenance and drivers. Similarly, arrangements were made to implement all the projects above Rs. 5 lakh through competition and meritocracy.
In the current fiscal year, instructions have been issued to implement projects worth more than Rs 1 million through competition.
The government led by Chief Minister Acharya has implemented a code of conduct for the Chief Minister and ministers.
