Damauli (Tanahun), Sept 24: Landslides near the Tuinkhola along the Muglin-Narayangadh road section has blocked two-way traffic since the past few days. As a result, thousands of travelers heading home for Dashain festival remain stranded.
However, some alternative to the Muglin-Narayangadh road are available and being used. The route to Dedgaun via Kharenitar in Tanahun is one among few options available. The Gandaki Provincial Government has been constructing this road as a pride project to connect Mustang to the Tarai.
This road is however suitable for small and light vehicles. Prakash Chandra Bhattarai, who used this road recently, said that it can be reached from Damauli-Khairenitar via Bhimad-Manpur to Dedgaun-Bulingtar-Dhodeni-Gaindakot.
The distance from Muglin to Khairenitar is 70 km. The Khairenitar-Bhimad blacktop road is seven kilometers and the Bhimad-Manpur dirt road is 35 kilometers. Manpur-Dedgaun blacktopped road is 40 km and Dedgaun to Narayangadh is 70 kms.
