blog

Jhapa, Sept 23: As the media reports are coming that those favouring Sher Bahadur Deuba, the President of Nepali Congress (NC), are not comfortable to the leadership handover citing adverse situation, the General Secretaries of the party have intensified the campaign to change leadership.

Party President Deuba, injured heavily during the Gen-Z protest, is receiving treatment and silent on young leaders' demand of a change of guard. However, anti-incumbency drive has gained pace with active discussion and engagement of the two General Secretaries- Bishwo Prakash Sharma and GaganThapa.

The octogenarian leader Deuba is suggested by Secretary Sharma to internalize the spirit and message of Gen-Z protest that shook the country and toppled government backed by the Nepali Congress.

During a programme organized at Dhulabari in the district on Tuesday, Sharma viewed there was no option before the party but to adopt transformation at the earliest. "Time change, so all- leaders and bureaucrats- need to change. Not only Singh Durbar, but all ward levels and commoners need change," he said, warning, "Anyone who adopts change heads the party, those failing to change, will be bade farewell."

The message of Gen-Z protest is need of tough measure against corruption and development of higher level awakening for democratic values. The arson, indiscriminate firing and torching needs to be investigated and legal action taken accordingly.

He also inspected his private residence, and party office which suffered damages in the arson and vandalism occurred during the protest. (RSS)r
