‘Route permits’ open for public transport nationwide from today

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Sept.22: Route permits have been opened for passenger public transport from Monday.

President of Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs, Bijay Bahadur Swar said that route permits have been opened across the country from today to ensure smooth operation of public transport across the country during the festive season.

With the opening of route permits, public transport will now be able to reach their destinations without obtaining a specific route permit.

However, restrictions will remain in place for certain types of vehicles on routes where their operation is deemed unsuitable due to road conditions or other factors.

President Swar said that the route permit will remain open until October 8.

Meanwhile, the government has already decided to restrict the movement of large vehiclessuch as trailers not carrying food grains or other essential supplies, between Narayanghat and Kathmandu from today until the full moon to ease festival traffic.

The federation reminded that one must buy tickets when traveling in public vehicles. (Translated from RSS Nepali)
