Minister Ghising discuss power export with Indian Ambassador

Kathmandu, Sept 21: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Kulman Ghising, and Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, held a meeting on Sunday.     

During the meeting held in the Ministry, Ambassador Srivastava congratulated the newly appointed Minister Ghising and extended best wishes for his successful term.     

Discussion was held also on the bilateral collaboration on energy, water resources and irrigation and the progress of the projects being constructed with the support of the Indian assistance, according to Minister Ghising's secretariat.     

The meeting of the bilateral mechanism on energy and water resources, supply of water from the Mahakali Irrigation (III phase) Canal to Nepal, review of the progress of the Rahughat Hydropower Project being constructed with the support of India, construction of Inaruwa-Purniya and New Lamki-Bareli 400 KV Interstate Transmission Line, and additional energy export to India from Nepal also featured during the meeting.     

Minister Ghising informed that Nepal government was requested for additional export of electricity to India as the internal consumption would decline with the closure of industries during the festivals- Dashain and Tihar in Nepal.     

On the occasion, Ambassador Srivastava informed that India was ready to extend support to Nepal for the reconstruction of the damaged infrastructures during the Gen-Z protest.     

The meeting was also attended by Ministry Secretary, Sarita Dawadi, Joint Secretaries Chiranjivi Chataut and Sandip Kumar Dev and a representative of the Foreign Ministry.(RSS)
