Birgunj's iconic Ghanta Ghar (tower) repaired

Birgunj (Parsa), Sept 20: The iconic clock tower of Birgunj in Parsa that suffered partial damage has been repaired. 

The 'balcony' structure of the tower had collapsed seven months ago after its deterioration. 

Birgunj Metropolitan City has reconstructed the damaged parts and repainted the tower to bring back its original state. 

Prabhat Jha, the head of the Land Management and Urban Development Department of Birgunj Metropolitan City, informed that the damaged structure of the tower has been repaired. 

'It was not possible to maintain the structure of the tower using machinery', he said, adding, "It was time-taking to manually carry out the repair and maintenance in the historical heritage'. 

Special attention has been given to the safety of vehicles and passengers as there has been a huge traffic around the tower, Jha shared, adding that construction nets were used during repairs. 

The clock tower will believably be durable for at least 10 years after the repairs. (RSS)
