Two die of drowning in Gaidahawa lake

By Chhabi Lal Pandey, Butwal, Sept. 18:Two locals have drowned while swimming in Gaidahawa Lake in Rupandehi district. The deceased have been identified as 18-year-old Dipesh Tharu and his friend Arun Tharu of Asidhahawa, Gaidahawa Rural Municipality -1.

Both of them went swimming in the Gaidahawa Lake in Gaidahawa Rural Municipality-6 of Rupandehi around 4 PM on Wednesday.

According to the Area Police Office, Suryapura, Dipesh Tharu started drowning while swimming in the lake and Arun Tharu also entered the lake to save. However, both of them lost their lives. They had left their home for a visit to Gaidahwa Lake at around 11 AM on Wednesday.

This is the largest man-made lake in Rupandehi, spread over an area of 84 bighas of land. Recently, the number of domestic tourists visiting this lake has increased.
