By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Sept 11: CPN (Maoist Center) has viewed that the way out to the current transitional situation should be as per the constitution.

Issuing a statement today, the Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda' said that the demands of the Gen Z can also be fulfilled through the constitution and the parliamentary processes.

He has expressed tribute to those who got martyrdom during the Gen Z movement, condolence to the grieved families and wished for a speedy recovery to the injured.

The Gen Z movement that started against corruption and ban on social media was correct, but the government used barbaric oppression on it and ran a massacre, read the statement.

“If we become successful to amend the constitution in favour of a directly elected executive political system while preserving inclusive democracy, we can develop enriched democracy.” The Maoist Center has expressed confidence that the Gen Z side will develop their future strategy by taking it seriously and sensitively. “Any solution sought devoid of constitution and legislature parliament will eventually benefit regression.”

“The vested interest group was terrified due to steps taken against corruption and for good governance, social justice and prosperity by the Maoist led government, and then the government was removed to form a government of the NC-UML coalition. As the coalition government engaged in serving the interest groups, people’s anger took an extreme form. To suppress in barbaric way the voice of the Gen Z youths, the government ran heinous massacre,” read the statement.

“I had alerted about a situation similar to present one because of the way and with the objective the Oli government was formed. I spoke all this while standing in the parliament rostrum,” said the Maoist Center Chairman in the statement.

“We repeatedly urged the government for correction and kept reminding the government of explosion of people’s restraint at any time if series of corruption and bad governance continued. But, boasting of two-third majority, the government ignored our cautions”.

“We kept raising voices against corruption and when we led the government last time, we took decisive initiative for good governance. We also voiced for directly elected executive, provisions that bars lawmakers from being ministers and for a all-powerful commission to investigate into the property of the leaders and high-ranking bureaucrats”.

The Maoist Center believed that arson and vandalism in historical, public and private properties and the looting was against declared policy and ideals of Gen Z. “Who set properties on fire and why? We have to think seriously on it.”

Gen Z movement has demanded enriched democracy, more consolidated republican system in place of status quo and ad hoc ruling system. Their demand was not against democratic system and constitution nor it was for dissolution of parliament. We are still confident their demands can be addressed through the constitution and existing parliamentary processes, the Maoist Center said in the statement.

“If we become successful to amend the constitution in favour of a directly elected executive political system while preserving inclusive democracy, we can develop enriched democracy.” The Maoist Center has expressed confidence that the Gen Z side will develop their future strategy by taking it seriously and sensitively.

In the statement issued by Prachanda, Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Center), the party has appealed to all people for the peace, constitution and republic to be cautious against reactionary plots that is trying to take advantage of the transitional period that has ensued following the Gen Z movement’s success.
