BY OUR CORRESPONDENT,Lamjung, Sept. 8: As part of the Pushpalal Mid-Hill Highway campaign, a team led by Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ visited Shree Bhakti Namuna Secondary School on Saturday.
Speaking at an interaction programme organised at the school, Prachanda recalled his long-standing connection with the institution and said, “I came here a long time ago, and even after becoming Prime Minister for the first time, I visited this school.”
Referring to his recent visit to the Lamjung Agriculture Campus and the discussions held there, he said that the Mid-Hill Highway campaign, which had been put on hold due to the monsoon season in Pokhara, had now resumed. “When we were running the campaign from Baitadi to Kaski, we had to pause it because of the rains. We have now restarted it. The main goal of this campaign is to understand the problems of the people and bring their voices to Singha Durbar,” he said.
He also said that during the campaign, they had been consistently meeting with families of martyrs and disappeared persons from the ‘People’s War’ and People’s Movement. He emphasised that the party was committed to addressing their pain and concerns. Additionally, he recalled initiatives taken during his time in government, such as promoting social justice, good governance, and including Nepali citizens abroad in the social security fund.
“Even though we were removed from government while doing good work, we have not been removed from the hearts of the people who still expect an end to corruption and good governance,” he said.
