Beni(Mayagdi), Sept.3: The 'Pothre Gurans' (Tree Rhododendron) blooming profusely on the Annapurna I base camp trekking route in Narchyang, Annapurna Rural Municipality-4, has attracted everyone, including tourists.
Along this trekking route, which is full of mountains, lakes, waterfalls, and breathtaking natural beauty, from Humkhola to Sunkhola, lush green bushes are welcoming tourists heading to the base camp.
The Pothra Gurans are found in full bloom on this trail from June to August.
According to Kamal Maden, a botanist, out of the 33 species of Gurans found in our country, Pothra Gurans is considered a small indigenous species. The Gurans of this species grow up to three meters tall.
He is concerned that this rare species is disappearing due to wildfire. Red, pink, as well as white and purple flowers of the Gurans species are found on the Annapurna Trek.
He emphasizes that the relevant bodies need to be sensitive to their protection.
