Kathmandu, Aug 29: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung has argued that the country's development was possible if the leaders were honest and citizens disciplined.
Addressing a programme on the 29th anniversary of the Educational Consultancy Association of Nepal (ECAN) in Kathmandu on Friday, Minister Gurung drew the attention of ECAN to repatriate youths from foreign countries, as the number of Nepali students going abroad for higher studies was on the rise.
Youths going abroad for higher studies is positive but the ECAN should take the responsibility to show the future within the country to those youths, according to Minister Gurung.
Minister Gurung viewed that the ECAN should encourage the students to do some innovative jobs within the country after completing their higher studies abroad.
According to Minister Gurung, there is a huge potential for development in Nepal. He suggested that the ECAN should prepare a base for making Nepal an education hub. For it to happen, the government will extend support with legal and policy reforms, he vowed.
On the occasion, Secretary at Home Ministry, Gokarna Mani Duwadi, however, said the major challenge before us at present is retaining youths within the country.
ECAN Chairman Seshraj Bhattarai said ECAN's success lies in preparing globally competent Nepali students. The ECAN is also for fostering willpower among Nepali students to return home after their higher education to contribute to national development, he added. (RSS)
