PM Oli to hold talks with Xi, Putin during China visit

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Aug 29: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to hold meetings with globally influential leaders including Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính during his five-day official visit to China to participate in the SCO Summit in Tianjin city to be held from August 30 to September 3.

Informing the parliament today about his upcoming China visit, PM Oli said that the main purpose of the visit of his delegation to China was to take part in the Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), of which Nepal is a dialogue partner.

Established in 2001, SCO has emerged as a big regional organisations with China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran and Belarus as memebers.

PM Oli will also hold bilateral talks with Maldivian President Dr. Muhamed Muizzu, Cambodian PM Dr. Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and Laos Premier Sonexay Siphandone.Additionally, the Nepali delegation led by PM Oli will also attend will attend China's V-Day commemorations in Beijing. According to Xinhua, China will stage a massive military parade on Sept. 3 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

PM Oli expressed confidence that his visit will further consolidate friendly relations between China and Nepal and with active participation in SCO Summit, Nepal's image and prestige will be strengthened in international forums.

The Nepali delegation will leave for China tomorrow, August 30, included in the PM's delegation are PM Oli's spouse Radhika Shakya, NC leader and former deputy PM Purna Bahadur Khadka, Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Raghuji Panta, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pande, former Minister and Economic and Development advisor to PM Oli, Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada, former Minister and member of parliament Chhabi Lal Bishwakarma and other high ranking government officials.
