Gaur Provincial Hospital mobilizes medics to cholera-hit Birgunj

Birgunj, Aug 25: A medical team mobilised by Gaur Provincial Hospital, Rautahat, has arrived here to extend support in bringing into control the diarrhea and cholera outbreak in Birgunj Metropolis.     

The Gaur Provincial Hospital sent the team comprising two doctors and three health assistants led by Dr Parashu Ram Yadav and Dr Bishnu Kumar Sah to Narayani Hospital, Birgunj, on Monday after numerous people were found suffering from diarrhoea and cholera in the city since Friday, said Chairperson of Gaur Provincial Hospital, Mohammad Anwar Hasmi.     

"We have sent the medical team in order to assist in controlling the diarrhoea and cholera that spread in Birgunj city and coordinate the treatment of the patients", he added.     

A total of 79 people tested positive for cholera in Birgunj, while 103 suffering from diarrhoea are receiving treatment at various hospitals. (RSS)
