Preeti Rai joins Jordan’s Etihad Club

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Aug. 13: Nepal international midfielder Preeti Rai has signed with Jordanian side Etihad Club (Al-Ittihad) ahead of the preliminary round of the AFC Women’s Champions League. Although Rai arrived in Jordan on 21 July, the club officially announced her signing on Tuesday via its social media platforms.

Etihad Club, founded in 2018, plays in the Jordan Women’s Pro League and has quickly become a strong contender. The team won back-to-back league titles in 2023 and 2024.

Last year, Etihad took part in the AFC Women’s Champions League qualifiers but did not advance past the first round. This season, the club is placed in Group C alongside Kelana United FC (Malaysia), Lion City Sailors FC (Singapore), and Sdyushor SI Asiagol (Kyrgyzstan).

Etihad will begin their campaign against Lion City Sailors on 25 August, followed by matches against Sdyushor on 28 August and Kelana United on 31 August. Rai's domestic club APF Club is also competing in the league. APF are pitted in Group B of the preliminary round.
