By Bomlal Giri, Nawalpur, Aug.6: Travel has become somewhat easier on the Daunne section of the Narayanghat-Butwal road, which is part of the East-West Highway, after it was blocked due to incessant rain.

According to the District Police Office, Nawalpur, one-way traffic has resumed somewhat smoothly since Wednesday morning, as the rainfall has stopped.

The highway, which had been slippery because of incessant rainfall since 7:30 AM on Monday, was opened one way from 1 PM on the same day due to a landslide. Damaged vehicles have been cleared after the landslide debris.

Chief of the District Traffic Office Police Inspector Janakraj Banjara said, "One-way traffic has started moving since morning, but the situation is still unpredictable. The road was worse on Tuesday than on Monday. There have been continuous blockages on the road near the Bishwakarma Temple in Binayi Triveni Rural Municipality-2."

The road has become muddy and slippery due to continuous rain for three days, and commuting on such a road has been difficult as the water has washed away the soil and gravel from the road, creating potholes.

Although road expansion work is currently underway, centered on the 14-kilometer stretch of Daunne, there is a problem that the road becomes muddy even in normal rain and becomes full of dry dust when the sun shines due to the lack of slope and blacktop.

Of the 14-kilometer road section, 3 kilometers on the west side are blacktopped, while about 2 kilometers of the road, both on the east and west sides, have been one-way plastered.
