By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 31: With Haritalika Teej, one of the most celebrated festivals for Nepali women, just a month away, the music industry is buzzing with a vibrant wave of Teej-special songs.

Celebrated with devotion, fasting, dancing, and singing, Teej has become an annual highlight not just for its cultural significance but also for its musical expressions that deeply resonate with women across the country.

Among this year’s most talked-about releases is the Teej song from the upcoming film Kosedhunga, titled ‘Natra Bhane Jindagi Byartha Chha.’

The song has quickly gone viral, capturing the attention of thousands. According to the film’s director, Saroj Paudel, more than 20,000 TikTok videos have already been created using the song, which has surpassed 1 million views on YouTube and a staggering 7 million views on Facebook.

Samikshya Adhikari, Deepika Bayambu Magar, and Khem Century lent their voices to the song. The music video features actors Surakshya Panta, Niti Shah, and Reecha Sharma, symbolising both the dreams of unmarried women and the emotions of married life.

To further engage fans, the production team has announced a TikTok contest. The film unit shared that the best performance TikTok video will receive Rs. 30,000, while Rs. 20,000 will go to the most creative video, and Rs. 10,000 to the most-liked entry.

Meanwhile, artist Poojan Kafle has also released a new Teej track titled ‘Chhadke Tilahari.’ The song entirely crafted by Kafle, from lyrics and vocals to composition celebrates the beauty of women adorned in jewellery, a tradition closely tied to Teej.

The video, directed and choreographed by Keshabraj Bhatt, features Shila Gajurel, Sanskriti Bhujel, and Aliza Kafle, portraying the joyous dance and togetherness during the festival.

Likewise, singers Eleena Chauhan, Samikshya Adhikari, and Melina Mainali joined the festive wave with their collaboration ‘Prithvi Chhodera,’ released on July 4. Another emotional release from Eleena Chauhan, titled ‘Chhoriko Shir Aama,’ presents the painful reality of a married woman confiding in her mother about her struggles and emotional trauma.

Singer Rachana Rimal joins Indrakala Rai and Eleena Chauhan in the much-loved track ‘Bamari Basayo,’ written and composed by Dipak Sharma. The song has garnered considerable attention for its catchy melody and traditional essence.

Other notable Teej hits this season include ‘Teejama Lukhuri Maita Dukuri,’ ‘Mata Khasai Ramri Ta Haina,’ ‘Ghar Jhagada,’ ‘Saune Jhari,’ and ‘Katima Ramri,’ with many more slated for release in the coming days.

During Teej, women come together to share their joys and sorrows. They sing and dance, using music as a way to express their emotions, ease their pain, and celebrate in the company of friends. Teej songs often reflect the struggles, happiness, and experiences of women’s lives. Teej songs often celebrate jewellery, clothing, and cultural traditions.

They express the hopes of unmarried women to find a good husband, while married women sing prayers to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati for the long life and well-being of their spouses.
