By Amar Raj Naharki, Tanahun, July 15: The drought and rising temperatures in Tanahun have affected the paddy plantation.
The Agricultural Knowledge Center in Tanahun said that 25 per cent of the cultivation is still to be completed.
Although some plantation was done by irrigating fields from rivers and streams that have access to water, the planting in the faraway fields has been delayed due to the lack of rain this year, said
Suraj Gaihre, an agricultural economist at the center.
He said that only 74.59 per cent of the paddy plantations have been completed so far.
He said, "If there had been sufficient rain, the paddy plantation would have been completed by now. However, seeds have now sprouted because of not being able to do the plantation."
According to the center, 8,720 hectares of land in the district are utilized for paddy cultivation.
Last year, 35,052 metric tons of rice were produced from paddy farming in 8,720 hectares of land.
