By Netra Shahi, Jumla, June 10: Sixteen wards in Jumla district have been declared child marriage-free.

To minimise child marriage, Hima Rural Municipality's 7 among other wards of the district were declared child marriage-free.

With the declaration of Tila Rural Municipality - 8, the 16 wards out of Jumla's total 60 became child marriage-free wards.

All 7 wards of Hima Rural Municipality, Sinja Rural Municipality's 2, 4 and 6, Kanakasundari Rural Municipality's 2, 4 and 5, Patarasi Rural Municipality's ward n. 5, Tila Rural Municipality's ward number 6 and Guthichaur Rural Municipality's ward number 4 were declared child marriage-free wards.

Recently, the child marriage free ward declared Tila Rural Municipality's Vice-Chair Gorikala Budha said that child marriage invites polygamy, creates problems for education and increases domestic violence, so declaring a child marriage free campaign continues.

District Coordination Committee Member Racha Rawal said that child marriage lies as the worst malpractice of the society, so it is a responsibility of all to minimise it.
