By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, June 5: Sagarmatha Next is organising an exhibition titled ‘At the Tipping Point: Art and ecology from the rooftop of the world’, coinciding with World Environment Day.
The exhibition will open on Thursday at Taragaon Next in Kathmandu.
Organised in collaboration with the Saraf Foundation, the exhibition will be curated by Indian art historian Dr. Arshiya Lokhandwala. Following the inauguration, Nepali artist Salil Subedi will present a special live performance titled ‘Earth Emergence.’
Focusing on the reality of the Himalayan region, which is experiencing temperature increases nearly twice the global average, the exhibition addresses climate change, cultural consciousness, indigenous knowledge, and scientific perspectives, aiming to redefine human relationships with the Earth through contemporary art.
Twelve international and Nepali artists will present diverse perspectives on the environmental crisis through their unique creations in the exhibition.
Artists Amit Machamasi, Chris Jordan, Himali Singh Soin, Joana Moll, Maksud Ali Mondal, Monika Ursina Jäger, Robertina Sebjanic, Salil Subedi, Samyukta Bhandari, Saurganga Darshandhari, Ursula Biemann and Utsa Hazarika will be featured in the exhibition.
