EU Ambassador to Nepal pays courtesy call on VP Yadav

Kathmandu, May 4: Ambassador of the European Union to Nepal, Veronique Lorenzo, paid a courtesy call on Vice-President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav on Monday.     

During the meeting held at the Office of the Vice-President at Lainchour, they discussed various dimensions of bilateral relations.     

Expressing satisfaction for cordial and friendly relations established between Nepal and the EU since 1974, Vice-President Yadav mentioned that Nepal has been giving top priority to its partnership with the EU.     

He shared that the EU supported programmes in the sectors of health, education, energy and rural development are useful for Nepal and expressed the belief that the scope in the productive sector would expand in coming days.     

The Vice-President expressed happiness, saying citizens of the remote areas have been benefited from the EU-supported projects in the Karnali Province. He stressed the need for Nepal-EU partnership on the shared values like democracy, independence, and multilateralism.     

Stating that multilateral cooperation is indispensable to face global challenges like pandemic and climate change, Vice-President Yadav argued that Nepal is ready for further collaboration.     

Tourism, infrastructure and information technology have been identified as the possible areas of economic growth, he added, expressing the belief that the EU could be a reliable partner for Nepal in this journey.     

Mentioning that the Government of Nepal is willing to welcome European tourists by establishing direct flights.     

He also wished happiness, peace and prosperity among the people of the EU-member states on the occasion of coming 'Europe Day'.     

Similarly, Ambassador Lorenzo expressed commitment to continuously support to further strengthen the Nepal-EU relations.     

The EU Ambassador shared that 22 ambassadors from the European Union member states to Nepal in New Delhi would visit Nepal from May 25-26.     

She also added that preparation was underway to organise the EU-Nepal Business Forum.(RSS)
