By Thakur Prasad Acharya,Myagdi, May 27: Mohare Danda is a remarkable tourist destination known for its breathtaking panoramic views of lush green hills and the majestic Himalayan range. Located at an altitude of 3,310 metres, it sits atop Ramche village in Ward No. 8 of Annapurna Rural Municipality in Myagdi district.
From this vantage point, visitors can enjoy spectacular Himalayas views, including sunrise and sunset. Mohare Danda is endowed with abundant natural beauty.
On clear days, one can witness more than a dozen peaks from Mohare Danda, including Sisne, Gurja, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Manaslu, and Annapurna. Additionally, the area offers scenic views of Pokhara Valley, Phewa Lake, Pokhara International Airport, and the picturesque highlands of Myagdi, Parbat, Baglung, Kaski, and Palpa districts.
According to Ward Chair Kham Bahadur Garbuja, the local government has prioritised the development of tourism infrastructure, including trekking trails, to promote Mohare as a tourist destination.
“Mohare Danda is a unique gift of nature. As part of the Annapurna trekking route, we aim to promote and develop Mohare into a recognised tourist hub,” he said while noting that both domestic and international tourists flock to the area during the tourism season.
To reach Mohare, one begins the Dhaulagiri-Annapurna Community Trek by ascending from Ghumane Taal on the Beni–Jomsom–Korala road. The trail passes through Banskharka, Dandakateri, Nangi, and Hampal before arriving at Mohare Danda. This trek is particularly appealing in a rural landscape due to its display of Magar culture, Himalayan vistas, sunrise viewpoints, and rhododendron forests.
Alternatively, one can reach Mohare Danda in a day from Jaljala Rural Municipality in Parbat via Majhphant, Lekhphant, Salija, Hampal, and Jaljala. Transport service is available up to Jaljala, followed by a three-hour hike to reach the destination.
To accommodate visitors, a community-run lodge with a capacity of over 60 people has been established. Tourists who visit Ghorepani and Poon Hill often extend their journey to Mohare Danda, Garbuja said.
According to him, after reaching Mohare Danda, tourists often take a half-hour walk to reach Kokhe Danda, situated in Ward No. 1 of Modi Rural Municipality, Parbat. Located at an altitude of 3,309 metres above sea level, Kokhe Danda has also been developed as a tourist destination.
